Cryptopia, which has been hacked recently, has been granted the permission to trade again. However, the exchange representatives explained, that the exchange isn`t ready yet to resume its activities.
After the hack more than 16,1 mln USD were stolen. New Zealand police has started the investigation, along with the international law enforcement services, to track and arrest the hackers.
The initial hacking attack was started on the 15th of January and lasted during two weeks. The funds disappeared from more than ten thousands of Ethereum wallets of the exchange.
Local authorities do not forbid the exchange to resume its activities, however, the exchange management isn`t ready for that. They believe, the main task now is to identify the losses and to make sure that all balances are 100% secure.
As well, based on the legislation of New Zealand, it is illegal to perform any trading operations if there are risks to creditor assets and property.
