The global head of digital department of HSBC, Josh Bottomley, said that the bank is very cautious with investments in cryptocurrency. He believes, that having a digital coin or a token is ok when it can be used for a particular need and you need to use it for this need. But they are absolutely not suitable for pure speculation.
He claims, as well, that right now, the bank has nothing to do with it, hence, is not interested in such kind of investment at all.
He believes, that cryptocurrency cannot be regarded now as a genuine asset. This might change in the nearest future, in such case, the bank will consider them.
For now, HSBC neither trades cryptocurrencies nor offers any transactions or bank account options in crypto. Like many major financial institutions, the bank is very cautious with them.
